Question about e-mail successes.

When you have an e-mail success do they usually reply to your e-mail or does the picture just show up? I've had six e-mail successes so far. Three responded and three didn't. The three that didn't respond were all sent to specific autograph request addresses on the celebrity's web site. The others were sent to the contact address on the site. I was just curious about what everyone else has experienced.
Also, about how long did it take to get your successes? Mine have been a little over a month.
