to ask, or not to ask...

Unread post by lous1987 »

im just wondering if when people send out requests if they ask the celebrity if they could personalise the pic?

i know some people would say it's rude to ask them to personalise but in all of my requests i always add 'if it's not too much trouble, could you please inscribe the picture 'to laura''

does anyone else have an opinion on this?

I usually do :D I don't think it's wrong though provided I paid for postage and included a SAE along with it.

I do the same thing, in fact I reakon that they might prefer to personalise it (if they have time) as they can then be sure its not just going to go straight on ebay. But yet most of them don't have enough time especially the A list celebs.

If you went up to a celebrity in the street, and they were in a good mood, and you asked for an autograph, they would usually ask what your name is. It's not much different TTM but most celebrities do it anyway TTM as they don't want it to go eBay. I've never asked anyone to personalise an autograph and I always get inscribed signed photos so 80% of celebrities dedicate the photo anyway. I don't think its rude in anyway if you ask for them to dedicate it :mrgreen: {up}

i always ask them to personalise it to me!

1) this means that u cant sell it on ebay
2) this also may mean that they have read ur letter as well
3) it feels more better to have it personliased to you!!

Exactly, I wouldn't like it much if say someone wrote "please don't dedicate this pic" (unless it was for charity) as then it would give me the feeling that it was going straight on ebay or something like that.

I always ask for a personalisation. As I send photos with my request, I normally write something along the lines of:

"It would mean a lot to me if you could kindly personalise and/or autograph the enclosed photos"

Obviously the and/or part makes the personalisation part sound optional. I don't want the celebrity to be pressured into doing so, but almost all of my photos have come back personalised anyway :).

I would much prefer to have my photos back personalised - it just adds that extra touch knowing that it's for you :wink:

I usually ask for a personalization if I'm only sending 1 photo. If I'm sending more than 1 photo, I don't ask for personalization, I just ask if they wouldn't mind signing one of or all of my photos.
