Taping the back of the envelope shut is perfectly fine but the USPS will not deliver letters/mail on which the postage has tape over it.

I think it can have tape, because I just received an envalope with tape all across the top front and back (covering the stamps). I couldn't get it open so it made me rip my picture.
I doubt it's a law though.

I think I may have accidentally done this once, that is, put tape over the postage stamps. I never recieved the SASE back so I'm not sure what happenedlutherjw wrote:This is because if the postage was covered with tape, you could simply take it off and use it several times.

I had a reply the other month where my address was taped on the envelope. No problems there!
As others have said, make sure your stamps are not taped onto the envelope as the Post Office may refuse to mail them!
Also, please make sure you don't use excessive amounts of tape to seal your envelopes - it just makes it look suspicious
. Just use a little bit, or use envelopes which have those strips where you just peel and seal.
