Advantages and Disadvantages About Autograph Collecting

Unread post by VaNeSsA hUdGeNs #1 fAn »

Hey! I just posted this so I could tell everyone about the advantages and disadvantages about autograph collecting!

Advantages

 You get mail from celebrities!
 You sometimes get AUTHENTIC autographs!
 You have "treasures" that you can pass on for generations!
 A celebrity knows who you are
 You get more mail than usual
 It keeps you busy!
 It's a unique hobby

Disadvantages

 It costs a WHOLE of money to buy stamps and IRC's and stuff like that
 Sometimes you get pre-prints which are kind of a waste
 When a celebrity never writes back, you get disappointed
 Going to the post office to ship big stuff
 Getting a Return to Sender (RTS)

Think you can add more? Go ahead!

On disadvantage to autograph collecting is that certain celebrities use 3rd party companies such as Studio Fan Mail & will only send Studio Fan Mail autographs, for example, Sarah Michelle Gellar does this & so do certain other Studio Fan Mail celebrities.

One disadvantage to autograph collecting is that some people get into autograph collecting only because they want to sell the autographs that they receive & this has made some celebrities stop signing TTM or it makes some celebrities use a 3rd party such as Studio Fan Mail, et al.

Another disadvantage to autograph collecting is EBAY. While you can find some real autographs on EBAY, there are a good amount of sellers who sell fake/forged autographs as the real thing on EBAY.

Disadvantage: Secretarials...especially when they're really obvious!

Advantage: DEFINITELY being able to get mail. I love it, it's very exciting.

I wouldn't say getting a PP or autopen is a disadvantage. It's better then not receiving nothing at all.

another disadvantage is the wait time for some of the mail. some take so long to respond.
