Fan Mail treated like Junk Mail

Unread post by janes-world »

First let me say I've been collecting autographs through the mail for many years. I also ran a website for a celebrity so I'm pretty knowledgeable about both sides of the issue.

I also fully understand a celebrity isn't obligated to sign autographs and their agencies number one priority is finding work for their clients.

However, without fans like us the entertainment industry wouldn't exist. I think when we spend our time and money to send a celebrity a fan letter we should at least expect that the letter gets passed along to the celebrity and not just tossed in the garbage.

I think more letters get thrown in the garbage than most people care to admit. Now there is a lot of factors that go into that such as a huge star who receives thousands of letters. They can't possibly respond to all of them.

But what about young or up and coming stars or stars you like but who aren't real famous just yet? You often see them tweeting away on Twitter but they can't seem to find the time to sign a simple autograph in the privacy and comfort of their own home.

If you find this more than annoying like I do perhaps there are things we can do about it. It takes some effort but I've had some success in that regard. Perhaps it just a way for the celebrity to save face but often times they will say the problem is their agency and they weren't even aware they had fan mail.

Anyway if anyone feels this is happening to you and wish to discuss this further just send me an email at janes-world@gmx.com

Thanks!
