What are the "good side" and the "downfalls" of sending fan mails through their private addresses?

Stick to the Agents, fan mail or venue addresses..... I'm with Lucas42...
I'm big on letting the celebs have their privacy.... it's not fair to them to send stuff to their houses... they need a break too....
and it might backfire on you, they may not send anything cos u are getting a little too close to home (or so to speak)
Just my opinion...

no i wouldn't send to home addresses it is like stalking and it might upset the celeb because they might feel like you are invading their privacy or something like that. i found john arne riise address (liverpool fc player) recently but i wouldn't try it just in case

You're not going to get into trouble with the law by merely sending a letter to someone's home. As long as it doesn't have threatning content, then you have no need to worry.
Writing to someone at their homes is, in my opinion, the best way to write. You can be sure that they will personally read your letter, and if nessessary, they will respond.
But usually the only time I write to someone at their home is if they are a minor celebrity, who has no representation, or if they are known not to respond through representatives.
But rest assured you're not going to go to jail or face criminal charges if you send an autograph request letter to a celebrity's home. And too, you're not a stalker if you write, because to stalk, you'd have to be at the location. You can't get a stalking charge by being present in writing.
