jack dempsey

I was at a flea market about a week ago and in a cigar box at a stand i found a post card with jack dempsey picture on it and a signature. there was also one written on the back. someone wrote on it and it is dated 1941. did they reproduce autographs back then or can I assume this is real. If it is I can't believe I got it for only $3!
