Peter Mayhew: Free autograph?

Hi there! Does anyone know if it's possible I request an autograph from Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and get it for free? I know you can buy them on his website, but all the autographs I've gotten so far (from Mary Costa, Mizuo Peck, Dawn Wells) are free, even a letter from Tina Louise, who is said to charge ten dollars.

Thanks!

The only place I've known him to sign for free (and this is going back to his earlier convention appearances where he was charging $10 a signature) was at Disney's Star Wars Weekends, which from this year going forward are no longer happening. The first time I met him at one of the weekends, I'd brought an item to be signed, and asked if he could sign one of the provided event photos. His reaction was to slam his hand on top of the stack of photos and yell, "NO!" He is, to put it kindly, a charm-free man, and I can tell you that you're very unlikely to get a free autograph from him, and last I saw, he had decided his autograph is now worth $50. He does lots of conventions (so his autograph is not in any meaningful way rare or valuable), does not personalize and he takes no genuine interest in meeting fans, so I'd just look for a cheap one on eBay and be done with it.

That is the exact opposite of the experiences I've had with him. I've met Mr. Mayhew at conventions twice, and both times he was super nice. The first time I got to him at a slow part of the day when I was one of only two people there, and he spent over half an hour telling us stories about filming on 'Star Wars.' The second time, there was a young boy in line with a wookie costume, and Mr. Mayhew came out from behind his table, on very weak knees, and gave the kid a hug.
