How long were you a fan before sending a letter?

I am curious to know how long you all were a fan of your favorite celebrities before sending them a fan letter.
It depends: if I absolutely loved them in a project I might write soon. Other people I see in several projects before I write. It all depends on how much I like them before I write a letter.
