Why.

Something I've seen on this site is that people actually count things like preprints as a success. I don't get it. It isn't an authentic autograph, it is a facsimile and the celebrity wasn't even around that particular picture. It's basically a photocopy.
Sure it might be a nice picture and a nice piece of memorabilia but it definitely is NOT an autograph. I'd rather have a stamp or an AP so i can remove the signature and try to get it signed authentically
Someone explain??

Personally I dont count preprints, stamps or autopens as successes, to me they're all failures.
But some people collect them, and thats their choice.

It is a matter of preference. Depends on what people like and do not like.

I know thats why I'm asking, to the people who do, WHY they count them as successes.

Several reasons. Some keep them as getting an authentic TTM is impossible/difficult from that celeb. Some refuse to believe they're not authentic. Some keep them as they're copies of an authentic. The list goes on.

At least when I say "success" when I'm posting a pre-print, it's a success because I received something back from the testing address. It's not a successful autograph, but it was not a RTS.

I agree with you, Pencebaseball9,
if I get a preprint, autopen, ect. I won't exactly call it a "failure" as it would seem like I got a RTS...

It's still a "success" as you
did get a reply. Anyways, I recently threw out all of my preprints and stopped counting them in my autograph count - I now only have authentics in my collection!
Thanks,
Lizanne

I've often thought this! To me, writing to a celebrity that only sends pp's is a waste of time, effort and stamps! If you're happy with a nice printed photo, save your money and stationary and print one from google {thumb2}

Some people don't mind.. as long as it's an autograph, it's ok or as long as they get something back, it's ok for them.

I have two PP's, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. I don't treasure then with my other successes but I know i is almost impossible I will ever meet them (as I live in the UK) and they don't sign TTM.
