Autograph collecting without IRC or SSAE

This is the old-fashion way of collecting autos but as the world gets greedier you often need this. In Sweden we don't have IRC any longer and I'm working hard to buy IRC and stamps every time I or any friend goes abroad. Although I still often end up sending out only SAE or just letter.
I'm mostly into football and I tend to send posters with as much as I can. If you have the same problem I can share some people to you... Only via PM. It would be fun to see if anyone else are in this dilemma.
Cheers! Up the Chels! ;)

Hi Eleganten,
this was there before and I think it's not good to make a list of celebs who respond without IRCs or SASEs. It would cause that these poeple will be flooded by collectors who want just an autograph for free, no matter who's the celeb. My opinion.
Regards,
Sammya

But what about all the list for e-mail which gets flooded. I think this is mainly a problem cause for other fellow european if I for example send to England. The people living there will mostly not get a answer as there's only for them to send with SSAE. But for people living in countries without IRC this could be really helpfull I think.

We dont list emails on this site for exactly that reason - they get abused.
Its the same reason why we dont list celebs who pay for postage themselves, because they'll get abused.

Yeah, I understand your point. But emails are not given out by fanmail.biz (unless it's Studio Fan Mail), when someone receives a email success, you usually must PM the person for an address and I know it won't discourage these collectors from getting free email, but it could decrease number of them. And I know it's difficult for people living out of USA or UK to get the stamp, occasionaly IRC, but they could trade them or write a letter saying they can't buy IRCs or something. The list of without-SASE-responding celebs would be abused even by collectors who are able to get IRCs or stamps.

Eleganten, I agree with Sammya that its not a good idea to post a list of celebs who sign without return postage, nor a list of emails - as they will most likely be spammed. But sharing by PM is definitely still acceptable.
Don't let the lack of IRC's in your country discourage you! There is no form of international return postage in my country, and I find most members aren't willing to trade unless you have the specific autograph they want. So I send all my requests out with only an SAE - I started last year November and to date I've had 41 successes so far, of which the majority are authentic ;) I'm really pleading in my note to the celeb's agent/manager/secretary, and explain my situation, which I think helps! Good luck

I understand all of your points, guys. I thinks it's a good solution to don't list them after all. Maybe we can just use these thread for members to discuss how's it going without with IRC or SSAE and maybe then being able to share their successes trouh PMs. I'll edit my first post now...

Hi, glad to see u getting success. I'm also getting many answers especially in football. I tend to write very good and special letters and then also a plead to the player to answer as I don't can send with IRC or stamps. It's going very well for me too. Only problem is with the big stars which often only answer if you send a shirt/pic/poster with. What are you into? football?
