how long do inkjet pics last for?

how long before they fade if kept away from light and are stored in acid free materials?

I've had some up to five years and none of them-the autograph or photo itself-have changed a bit.

Direct light or heat will fade them faster than a normal photo you'd pay for or have printed, but if you keep it stored in an album or frame away from the sun coming in the windows, they'll be fine. :)

Also something to consider the paper you use is also going to help either fade them faster or keep them longer. I know most people don't use the pro paper as much as I do. But I always to Ilford which will work on all inkjet printers, you can download the proper setting and all. I usually print mine on a studio printer but that paper will work with regular canons and HPs etc...
