Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
It looks good to me. I don't see anything to worry about. I'm a little surprised he signed more than one, but that's great for you.
By the way, what state are you in? I sent 1 item to that same venue on November 12th. I'm in upstate NY, but nothing back for me yet.
Did anyone else send to Seinfeld via the Orpheum this month?

It is certainly authentic, he only seems to sign VV so congrats.
I got him earlier this year, sent 2 photos for myself & 1 for a friend & he signed all 3 - where I do know others where he just signed 1 things - might depend on the letter or his time frame.

Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
I think my request to The Orpheum is pretty much dead. I sent it on 11/12 for his shows on 11/18 and 11/19 but haven't received anything. While it's only been a few weeks, the original poster lives a little farther away from the venue than I do. So, I'm thinking if I was going to get anything, it probably would have been Friday (like the OPs) with a slim chance of it coming on Saturday. I sent a 1/2 page handwritten letter, 1 DVD insert, and a SASE with 5 stamps on it. I even put "please hold for Jerry Seinfeld on 11/18-11/19" on the bottom of the main envelope. I don't know if there's any special thing the letter to him needs to say (assuming they're read at all) but I pretty much just asked him to sign it and how I would appreciate it and appreciate his taking the time to do so. I was hopeful because several people here sent to him via The Orpheum in 2009 and it seemed like everyone got theirs back then.

Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
i ogt him back today via the same venue and he only signed one pic out of two. third time ive gotten him via venue in the past two months though so i cant complain, however, last time he kept my three 8x10s and send one, of which i would assume, is someone else's and it got mixed up.
Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
It will definitely suck if I don't get something back soon, but it's decreasingly likely each day. I only sent one thing, a DVD insert, so you'd think someone sending only one would have better luck than people sending multiples.
I hope my local post office didn't see "please hold for Jerry Seinfeld on 11/18-11/19" on the bottom of main mailer and mistakenly didn't even send it until those dates. I just dropped it in a regular mailbox 6 days before he was there. I didn't bring it to the post office counter to mail. Maybe I should have put more than five 44 cent forever stamps on my SASE?
I also sent to him VV at the beginning of the month when he had a show about 30 minutes from me. Never saw anything.

Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
Unfortunately sending VV is a risk even when someone is a good VV signer. I never send CD/DVD covers to be signed unless it's a perm address they sign regularly from. I always put the Please hold & the dates on bottom of my envelopes & never have had a problem & I certainly dont think post office sorting machines recognize that.rdf8585 wrote:It will definitely suck if I don't get something back soon, but it's decreasingly likely each day. Sometimes I've had VV successes turn up months later & sometimes my friends & I have written to the same venue & only one of us has had success.
VV is not a sure thing, you dont know how much time they've got etc.... You may have to try him again. You could even contact the venue & ask them if they for some reason still have it. With the post office things go wrong & yours may have turned up after the show. If you can get a VV success it's fantastic but it is not a sure thing.
Check with the venue & if all else fails, try again. With no offense maybe you should not be complaining so much in a thread on someone's success. Good luck

Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
Did you say you sent a 1/2 page letter? It can't have been much of a LOR if it was half a page? A lot of artists won't even bother unless it's a full page letter or more as they tend to think the less effort you put in the letter you may just be a seller.
I know this because there was a thread on here written by someone who worked for a famous touring artist & explained what went on behind the scenes & all the best things to do to getva success. If you do a search you may find it but one of the things mentioned letters half a page or shorter basically saying you're great, thanks, please sign did not even make it to the performer to see. The assistants would pick the mist sincere letters to give to the artists to read & others that were good may not make it to be read but the items would go in the pile if things backstage to sign.
The post also said dont send things you would be upset about nit getting back like cd/DVD covers & usually send 2 things. It was a really good post & it should have been made a sticky so it was easy to find.

Re: JERRY SIENFELD VV SUCCESS
I've done TTM for almost 10 years, though 95+% athletes and very few celebs or via venue requests. Besides my 2 Seinfeld failures this month, I only did one other via venue and that came back. I've pretty much have written the same kind of letter with slight variations for 10 years and have had hundreds of successes with it. Maybe it's different with celebs and venue requests, but there's always been a debate if the athletes even bother to read the letters.
I handwrote my letter. I don't type them so they don't like letters from a dealer (which I'm not.. don't sell anything). Handwritten also indicates a more personable feel. I just asked to "please" sign the enclosed insert and I would appreciate him taking the time from his busy schedule to do so. I also thanked him for his time and indicated a SASE was included for a simple return. Short and polite and to the point, a formula that has worked very well for me over the years. Never thought that would be the issue.
I didn't send DVD covers. I sent DVD inserts, things I wouldn't be too upset about losing. Each season of Seinfeld on DVD came with an insert. Maybe I'm not in tune to the hobby as I was a few years ago, but I never remember being encouraged to send multiples to athletes. I think I sent multiples once in 10 years. I don't need more than one and by having them sign two, that's less time for other requests from other people. I've also heard people argue that multiples might indicate a dealer looking to sell the other one. Not saying that people who send multiples are dealers, but it's easy to see why some athletes would assume it. Again, maybe it's different with celebs.
