Nosy teacher?

Unread post by EmbraceTheMadness »

Ok so today was a interesting day i was in school and one of my classes was in the computer lab to finish up a assignment (i had everything completed and done) so i was free to do whatever i decided to open up a word document and edit and view a fan letter i previously typed up. Which i did and apparently one of my teachers came up behind me and tryed reading MY personal fan letter!!! I closed out of the word document irritated. The the teacher was pirsistant and kept telling me "open that back up" let me see what you wrote" basically forcing me to open up the word document. I refused not letting see her see what i wrote (there was nothing bad in the letter) She kept asking who is that for? Im like its for a celebrity its a fan letter for a autograph request. I was quiet and calm. But the teacher STILL kept at it. Practically demanding for me to open the document back up. Apparently the reason she wanted to view my letter was because she wanted to know what the $3 was for and why i was sending she was persistant i kept explaining to her that it was international because my post office doesnt sell IRC ETC. Then eventually she FINALLY went away. But doesnt she seem rude??? It was none of her buisness what was in that letter!!!! And she was demading i open the document back up and her voice was quiet but was RUDE and demanding. Im pretty sure all she wanted to do was read more than the $3.00 situation. She wanted to READ the letter itself!!! And thats unacceptable to me. Plus she is NOT MY PARENT! I feel like its a invasion of privacy. And that letter is solely for the individual im writing/typing it too. A fan letter is meant to be special. Plus that particular letter my teacher was trying to invade on involved some of how i feel in the world etc... it was a "deep" fan letter (and i write very few) so yeah. I decided to share this with you guys i mean what do you think? All opinions are welcome. Thanks for listening

Yeah, she has no write to read anything you typed and that is invasion of your privacy for her to demand that you open the document up. It's a free country, you can write what you want and don't have to show it to anyone unless you feel the need to. I like to keep my requests private, and between me and the celebrity, although I do understand that sometimes agents or managers 'screen' letters and sort out all the hate mail ones and pass on the positive ones only, but that I don't mind, because I've never once bashed a celebrity in any of my letters.

I'd keep an eye on the teacher in the future, pick a computer facing the door, so you can see who comes in and won't be surprised when they come up from behind.

It is hard to say given that we were not there, and that I am not familiar with the American education system. Did you make it clear you had finished your work? Perhaps she thought you were mucking around while you still had work to do? Have you had any run ins with her? I know from experience teachers are harder on "bad" students, or students they have an issue with. I always refrained from doing anything personal during school hours, as you run a great risk.

The thing is because you were in the school lab on school property the teacher probably has the right to look at whatever you are doing if they want to make sure its nothing weird or illegal because even though you know it was just a innocent fan letter the teacher doesnt know that. It is annoying but you learned a lesson today at school and that is to do fan letters outside of school lol
