Re: Jude Law success :)
It's possible that the reason he signed them were 1. they were already signed by different actors, & 2. They were DVD covers, which also shows that you're actually a fan. Great success!
Kyle.

Re: Jude Law success :)
Great news. So now instead of losing hope that my 2 photos will never be returned to me since "Anna Christie" is finished, i have new hope that not only i'll get them back but they'll be signed too.
Re: Jude Law success :)
Oh wow congrats, you're so lucky! I was going to send to him but thought he just sent out PPs, ah well.
Maybe it was something you wrote?

That's the thing I hate about this hobby. This is super unfair. Either everyone should get PPs, or everyone should get authentics.
Great for those of you that got your stuff signed authentically, but I'm sure you can see where some of us are pretty peeved!

I agree , but I also strongly disagree with this
With me I would no doubt say probably my Doctor Who books signed by 7 of the first 8 Doctors , my Monty Python DVD covers that I have got signed IP by 4 of the 5 remaining Pythons , my Hellboy DVD signed by 6 , my Alien signed by 5 - all of these are quite individual items to me , items that some wouldn't be too interested in but some would love , and all stuff that a lot of other collectors wouldn't have

I agree , but I also strongly disagree with thisI nowadays only go for people who I like in something , but I bet if you ask every single auto collector in the world what their favourite autos are , a massive percentage will probably say it is the rarest , hardest to get , worked hardest for , collected over years , impossible to get now ones .

Huh? How does your response have anything to do with what I said?

What I meant was that this hobby only works because some people get things others can't , and because some people want things that some do but lots of others don't . We are all individual , we all like different actors or actresses . And some only want sportsmen , or politicians , or whoever . If we all got the same , or even all wanted the same , this hobby would soon get boring .
I was exactly the same as most where Robin Williams was concerned - I got somebody who obviously wasn't Robin Williams signing my 2 DVD covers - and sod the fact that one of them was already signed by Terry Gilliam and David Hyde Pierce
Yes , I find this hobby hateful sometimes , and it is never fair - but I will put up with the bad times as long as I keep getting the odd good time .

Uhh yeah, I agree with what you've said....but if pretty much EVERYONE that sent to a certain venue got back PPs and like literally, 2 or 3 people got back authentics, how does that even make sense? How did they determine who would get an authentic and who would get a PP? Who was "worthy" enough?tansternant wrote:

But I send each item out knowing that it could come back really signed , or preprinted , or signed by a sec , or not even come back at all . And I have written to people who have replied to almost everybody but me ( it seemed at the time ) , and as a result over the years have lost , for example , a Shaun Of The Dead DVD cover signed by 3 , a Flash Gordon DVD cover signed by 4 , a Rocky Horror DVD cover signed by Tim Curry and Richard O'Brien , and a Roswell photo signed by 4 or 5 etc .

Re: Jude Law success :)
I'm not going to argue with you on this one - I agree that it was really cruel and really reasonless why some people got PPs , some got real . When the play ended and I still hadn't got a reply , I would totally have accepted just my things back . So I was delighted and amazed with what I got .velvetgold wrote: Uhh yeah, I agree with what you've said....but if pretty much EVERYONE that sent to a certain venue got back PPs and like literally, 2 or 3 people got back authentics, how does that even make sense? How did they determine who would get an authentic and who would get a PP? Who was "worthy" enough?I hate when a bunch of people send to the same set, and something like this happens. It's different than someone putting in research to find an address and obtaining a great, rare success from that. We all sent around the same time, to the exact same place, and therefore its frustrating and incredibly odd and upsetting that most of us got PPs and a select few got authentics. I sent a heartfelt 2 page letter, and its just crappy that I got a PP. If EVERYONE else got a PP too, I wouldn't feel as terrible. And I sent really early too, in August. You would think that sometimes they would reply to at least the first letters they get, so the order of things with this play address just really bites.
And at the same time , I wrote to Thandie Newton at her West End play , sending two DVD covers . Everybody seemed to be getting their stuff back signed OK , then it slowed down . When the play was announced as finishing early , I wondered what the result would be and , soon enough , I got my envelope back . In it was a very small signed piccie - but no DVD covers . One of these DVD covers was from Interview With The Vampire , and I had just got it signed IP by Anne Rice - so you can imagine my feelings when this happened
