questions about IRCs

Unread post by Bill73 »

I am going to send something to the UK, and I am having problems finding IRCs. Already been to 2 post offices, and neither had them. My town isn't very big, but my sister lives near Chicago, and the post offices around her don't have them either. Anyone else have problems finding these things?

Also, if I am sending 2 8X10 pictures, how many IRCs do I need to use? Will 2 be sufficient? I don't want to be short on postage, but these things are apparently not cheap.

Thanks!

http://fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=161770 That is the IRC Pricelist

and IRC's are very hard to find in post offices. You can get IRC's on here or ebay. I would also suggest buying stamps of the country you are sending to.

How do you buy stamps from the UK? I don't know anyone over there, and the Royal Mail website appears to only sell metered postage that you can apply at home. However, it's only good for a day or so, so that won't work.

You can no longer get IRC's in the UK, they were withdrawn from sale earlier in the year- and yes they have been officialy been withdrawn rather than being hard to find.

People from abroad can still send them here to be redeemed though!

Royal Mail do sell stamps, and as far as I am aware they ship worldwide (they have a "Rest of World" postage charge) see here You'd need a credit card though.

Alternatively look on the Autograph Exchange/Sale section, several members trade/sell UK stamps.

UK postage is expensive so be sure to put enough on.

Kimmy,

If I send the two 8 by 10 inch pictures in a 10 by 13 inch envelope, is that considered a letter or a small packet in the UK? THe package weighs less than 2 oz or 60 grams, so it's not very big. Thanks!
