The always reliable North Carolina journalist Russ Bowen, who closely followed The Hunger Games shoots in his home state, has received new information concerning Catching Fire.

A pre-production crew is already in Hawaii for Quarter Quell filming. Previous reports stated that they’d be shooting specifically in Kauai, Hawaii during the last three weeks of production. See photos of Kauai.

In addition, Bowen learned that there will be no filming happening in North Carolina this time around, and that sets like The Seam and The Hob will be rebuilt in Georgia. The reason for the move is likely filming tax credits.

Filming on Catching Fire is expected to begin in September. We’ll continue to follow developments as they’re revealed.

The Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning to promote his charity basketball game being held in Los Angeles tomorrow.

Earlier today we shared photos of Hutcherson who’s now sporting his blonde hair again to play Peeta. A better photo has since surfaced



Here are his comments to Ryan Seacrest concerning his Catching Fire preparations:

I’ve been training for about the last month or so now and I head out in about two weeks to go down to Atlanta to start shooting. It’s not quite intense as the first round that I did last year, but it’s just basically getting in good shape. We’re pretty much wearing these body suits the entire time, so one would like be in good shape to wear a spandex neoprene body suit for an entire movie.

Reports over the past few months indicate that Catching Fire shooting will take place in Atlanta and Hawaii.
