I've been collecting for years and used to handwrite all my letters, my hands really can't take all the handwriting though so I switched to typing. I write personal letters and NEVER form letters. I don't find there is a difference at all...

This is actually a very interresting subject. Perhaps it would make a good basis for a poll?

I prefer to send out handwritten letters, as it makes everything more personal (this is only my opinion, though). Sometimes - to celebrities I really admire - I actually take the time and effort to make neat kind of scrapbook cards, and then I write my letter inside the card. Just like this:

Image
My card/letter for Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge)

Image
My card/letter for Shirley Henderson (Moaning Myrtle)

Image
My card/letter for Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)

Image
My card/letter for Emma Watson (Hermione Granger)

This is just some of them! (I know I probably should have called them Ms and Mrs and then the last name, but for it just felt kind of wrong to put on the card... ) But yeah, what do you think? :) I used the same flower on everyone because I just had this little package of them, and they just matched so well, hahah! 8)

Most wanted: J.K.Rowling, The Golden HP Trio, Rest of Full HP Cast (especially Tom Felton, Evanna Lynch and Helena Bonham Carter!), Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr.

Sorry, but I'm not giving out Emma's VV address. Please don't ask.

I myself handwrite my letters, because I feel like it puts me on a more personal level with the person, but thats just me, as I feel typing is lazy (once again im not judging those who do, thats just me) just because.

I write them all by hand.
But I've already sent some computer typed, but only for Via Venue requests within Germany (letters to the venue with computer, to celeb handwritten).

I previously typed all of my letters and received most of them back. Now, I hand-write them, but I don't think it matters. I think it has more to do with which celeb you're writing to.

Writing by hand is by far the best way to go. If you write by hand then that shows you took the time. Whereas if you do it by computer, you could just copy and paste the same letter for everyone and it is less personal. The only reason writing by computer is acceptable is if your handwriting is unreadable (or maybe if you are using a translator). Cramp isn't an excuse, but a side-effect of putting in effort.

I used to type my letters as my hand writing isnt the best ive only had 1 typed letter request back.

Ive had lots of Email requests back which are like Typed letters as with emails you never know if they are going to resell the auto.
I always ask for a dedicated autograph in typed and email coz if it comes dedicated the person responding will know i want it for myself.

I hand write my letters all the time now
