Maybe this will shed a little light on the "signed card" bullcrap. I've been A card collector for over 30 years. I was also a card grader for a major company.We had cards come in all the time signed.If the autograph is authenticated It adds value to the card. Sometimes doubling and tripling it's value. If autographing cards ruined them there wouldn't be such things as autographed cards that you can get out of packs.Those cards are worth money.Why would they be worth money and one signed by the same person not be?See it makes no sense. Autographed cards if authenticated add value to the card.I've graded cards that have had it done. I graded a Don mattingly card that was autographed that had over $200. added to the value.the card was only worth $80. So who ever said serious card collectors don't like autographed cards..I think you may want to rethink that.Because I work for serious card collectors and they do like them.

Sent LOR/SASE/Donation/8x10/53' Topps to Mr. Ford on 12/26/12. Received SASE back on 1/5/13 with 8x10 signed, however he KEPT MY 53' TOPPS (which is worth alot).... ='(

Wow! Are you ever stupid. Good luck with that as you will never see that card again. When you send anything to someone in the mail under international law they don't have to send it back. They own that piece of mail and its contents. Whitey Ford probably gave it to one of his grand kids.

Why do you think a company doesn't send you a product before you paid for it. The law is the law and you can't do anything to get that card back.

He didn't steal the card you moron! He owned it once you sent it to him. Many celebrities are nice enough to send items back people send them. But they are under no legal obligation at all to do this.

Dude relax, it's worth a shot. It may have just accidentally fallen out or gotten misplaced. I've seen him sign 53' Topps TTM before, so it's not like he was in desperate need of his own card. And I haven't seen anywhere on any feedback from him that he kept their cards!

Thank you Tiny. I thought I was the only one who thought it was fairly obvious a signed card is worth more than an unsigned one.

He's actually not stupid for sending him the card...you can buy an original '53 Topps Ford for less than $20 on ebay...just depends on what condition you want the card. I seriously doubt that Whitey manages his mail, but this isn't the first time that I've seen issues with Ford not returning items...and I don't think its intentional. I think whoever manges his mail isn't the best in the world at it.

T I N Y... You hit the nail on the head with that. I too have been a collector of cards since the 90's. Then, I went on a hiatus and stopped collecting altogehter. I recently started again, but this time, I only collect autographed card from packs, IP and TTM.

poppincurbs - Don't let posters who clearly like to p*ss in people's cheerios ruin your time here on the forums. I'm fairly new myself and have run into a few "know it alls" of everything there is to know about autograph collecting. I'm not naming any names because I'm sure you will figure them out for yourself. Put those peons aside, you have a larger amount of people who know what they are talking about and will respect your intentions, while keeping comments respectful. Bottom line

1. Sending the card was a risk, everyone, including you knows that
2. Taking the risk definetly has it's rewards as cards signed authentically are indeed worth more than a piece of cardboard with their picture on it
3. You still got a signed success from a d*mn good baseball player, which in my opinion, was well worth the risk
