I did it once for a Cody Simpson SASE because I live in Canada and didn't have us stamps so I found these stamps on a different envelope and peeled them off and it worked :)

YUP I have because times are HARD and I can't afford to buy 10 books of US stamps @ one time like I use to. LOL so YUP, if the PO isn't gonna do their job and X out the stamps, I will re-use them. {up}

Just got this PM saying its illegal to use unmarked stamps

I thought you might want to know that reusing stamps that haven't been cancelled or look like they haven't been cancelled is against the law.

I Actually work for a post office, and the USPS do use Ultra-Violet stamp cancelling inks in addition to the black cancelling ink, so even though you can't see it under normal light, it can be dectected under black lights. and if they catch people reusing stamps with these ultra-violet cancellings over and over, they will issue a warning and if it keeps happening they can and will fine you a hefty amount (depending on the state you live in it can be up to $5,000 and include jail time)

That's why I don't reuse stamps. $5,000 can buy a whole lot of them and if you like, you can post what I said to the forum to let others know this as well.

Of course it's illegal to use un-franked stamps. It's even illegal to put a stamp upside down on an envelope. I know times are hard but it's not worth the risk. 8)

Well, not all post offices use this "Ultra-Violet stamp cancelling ink" and don't let someone trick you into thinking they do. As a matter of fact, MINE DOESN'T. :mrgreen: My post office uses a PEN to "X" out the stamps. Comments from Ryan J aren't gonna scare me just because he works @ a PO. lol!

BTW I think I read in the paper last week that the ''Stamp Killer'' will be getting out of jail next month........BUM, BUM, BUM!! :roll: H*ll outta here :lol: There are millions of killers and rapists in the world. But I doubt that the rare times that I re-use stamps, I'm gonna be put in jail. Next. {up}

PS: Ryan I have a mini ultra violet light @ my house so BELIEVE ME, you aren't the only person here who knows the PO trick. ;)
