Re: Wrestling Collectors?
So, I made the trip to Little Rock for Tuesday’s Smackdown taping.
Unfortunately, four of my six top wants didn’t happen… Two did (Big Show and Dolph Ziggler).
The Rock was hard to peg down. Chris Jericho was at my spot but only for a moment, Randy Orton was no where to be seen and C.M. Punk continued to be on the rag.
That said, it was a successful trip.
Here are some of the highlights…
The biggest get for me was Big Show. I’ve met him twice before, but this time around, he was the coolest he’s ever been. We had a five minute conversation about why he isn’t going to write a book and about how he believes he works best as a talent. Extremely cool for one of the biggest names of the past 15 years to talk to a regular old fan like me for that long. Also signed a combined six pics for my wife and I. Also got a photo op with Show.
To get to talk to a guy like Big Show for that long helped to ease the pain of missing the other top wants, especially Jericho.
In addition, I got Dolph Ziggler to sign a “Money In The Bank†contract along with two more photos. My wife got him on three pics, as well. I also got a photo op with Ziggler since he had the MITB briefcase with him.
Also got a handful of first-time meets under my belt in Paul Heyman (signed one picture), Lilian Garcia (signed four photos), Bo Dallas (signed four photos), Dean Ambrose (signed one photo), Roman Reigns (signed one photo), Curt Hawkins (signed one photo), Charles Robinson (signed two photos), Hornswoggle (one personalized photo), and Big E. Langston (signed one photo).
Bo Dallas seemed genuinely surprised to get recognized and was very great about signing. We’ll see how that changes as he logs more months under his belt.
I also got many of the usual crew that I see from time to time with Mike Rotunda on one photo, Alberto Del Rio on two, Great Khali on two (one prior photo op), Natalya on four photos, Justin Gabriel on one photo, Brodus Clay (on one photo), Yoshi Tatus (on one photo), A.J. Lee (on one photo with no personalization), Titus O’Neil (on two photos), Tensai (on three pics – two Tensai and one A-Train), Layla (four photos including one prior photo op), Cameron (two photos), Michael Cole (one photo), Jinder Mahal (one photo), The Miz (three photos), Naomi (two photos), Kofi Kingston (three photos), Billy Kidman (two photos), Finlay (two photos) and Damien Sandow (two photos).
Finally, I got an obscure gimmick as Booker T signed my WCW G.I. Bro promo.
Altogether, we ended up with over 70 autographs. Could’ve been better. Had a cluster at the start and were in a bad spot, but we made some adjustments in our staging areas and rallied at the end of the day.
Also saw, but didn’t get because I was busy with others…. Brad Maddox, John Laurinaitis, Conor O’Brien, Corey Graves, Road Dogg, Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater, Jamie Noble, Cody Rhodes, Aksana, Tamina, Alicia Fox, Kaitlyn, Josh Mathews, The Usos, Ricardo Rodriguez and maybe a couple others that slip my mind at this point.
Mark Henry was in a “hurry and running late,†or so he said. Wade Barrett did the old cell phone trick.
Here’s some of the scans.
