Problem n°3 : IRC and Expiry date =D

Unread post by SophieKnoxville »

HEllo, I'm sorry  ( i hope "you'll understand my not perfect english ")

waa..

everytime i think it's gonna be ok with the letter i want to send to Gael Garcia, there's a new problem... ='(

Maybe the problem is that i'm too curious

Today, I went to the post office and i finally got my IRC ( I took 5 to be sure  )

BUT, (yes there is always a BUT)

BUT I saw the expiry date "31.12.2006" and now, my f riend and I are worried about our chance to get an autograph of him.

I say that because I saw in the feedback section that sometimes, it took a long time like 1 year to get an autograph.

So, now if i send the letter with my request, Gael Garcia will only have 7 months to sign my autograph.

And imagine if he only reads my letter on january 2007 or on february, if he signs the autograph, we'll never receive them because the IRCS wont be valid anymore..

Do you think someone will pay the postage if the Ircs are expired?

Snif..,

Another question

Look at my beautiful french IRC

I've read that the people who sent IRCS had to be sure the IRc was stamped.

Image

I asked to the lady at the post office but i didn't understand anything! She spoke too fast! But i think the stamp is already on the IRC, maybe it's the "FR" ?

could someone tell me what i have to do or if it's ok?

thank you

Hi SophieKnoxville :D

I understand completely {up}

I have been wondering the same thing. The current IRC's have an expiry date of "31.12.2006", and not many people would realise this!

The issue here is whether post offices (around the world) will be getting in new stocks of IRC's to replace those expiring at the end of this year. Obviously, IRC's aren't things that are sold very very very regularly due to a number of issues (including people not realising what they are for, people don't even know what they are etc.)

I would assume that if you sent one with your request, it should work regardless of when they cash it in for stamps (today, or next year). However, if it doesn't work, at least the person who you sent your request to will realise that you've made an effort to pay for postage, and pay for it themselves. So send out your requests with IRC's as normal!!

As for your second question, you should have them stamped in the box on the left hand side where the letters (in this case FR) of your country are. Some countries such as the US do accept IRC's without the stamp, providing the origin of the IRC is there.

I hope this helps!!

Oh yeah! Thanks christine, I only recently discovered that my local post office stocks them, so I'm still new to them!
