Münchausen wrote:This is of course just my opinion, but I think that you should always send out hand-written letters. It may not be easy, but keep in mind that what the celebrity is doing for you is not "easy" either... especially with how immensely busy these people are (to spare 2 minutes for you is a miracle). So you should respect their time and put as much energy into it as you want them to! 8)
I agree...

It's the content, not the format, that makes a letter heartfelt. And if you're unsure of your own handwriting, then you better do typing. You don't want to find out that the person you wrote to couldn't get the point of the letter because he/she couldn't decipher it. I just sent out a typed letter that I put a good deal of thought and time into. Do you really think it could easily count for nothing because it's not handwritten?

Münchausen wrote:To say that a typed letter is "more heartfelt" is about as big an oxymoron as you can get. The only reason you should be typing up a letter is that you have a writing disability or some sort of disease that hinders your ability to write (i.e. Parkinson's). But everyone has their own opinion, so I will agree to disagree ;-)

P.S. When I started this hobby, I sent out around 35 typed requests between the years of 2004-2006 and only received two replies (Pierce Brosnan & Ringo Starr). Though, when I switched to hand-writing my letters in 2007, the replies started to flow in (I now have a total of 27 authentic signatures).
I think most people they write to agree with us so let these guys type the letters,They wont even know the autographs they miss because of it.

Yes I do think that,They will not believe its sincere if its typed and I don't blame them, You should be happy if they send you a pp photo then because they originally signed it and then it was printed out for you. Same thing really. It just has no heart and feels generic if not hand written. Nothing special about it at all. They might as well be getting another piece of junk mail...

I've sent out 44 letters during last 15 months. 4 of them were hahdwritten, only 1 got back. The rest 40 were printed, and 33 of them returned already (a couple probably haven't even reached the celebrities yet). My math tells me I do it right.
Favorite successes: Brian May IP, Marion Cotillard, Melanie Laurent, Emma Stone IP, Anna Friel, Lee Pace, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, David Suchet, Anneke van Giersbergen IP, Katie Melua IP, Scarlett Johansson IP, Tom Hiddleston IP, Colin Farrell IP, Sean Bean IP
Latest successes: Abbie Cornish, Tatiana Maslany, Rob Brydon, Imogen Poots, Eva Green, Anton Lesser, David Bradley, Heidi Range, Kate Mara, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Emilia Clarke, Ciaran Hinds, Geoffrey Rush, Iain Glen, Stephen Dillane, Pedro Pascal, Conleth Hill, Tom Wlaschiha, Karine Vanasse, Hayley Atwell, Rosamund Pike, Katie Melua IP, Judi Dench, Charles Dance, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Kerry Ellis IP, Brian May IP

Do you have any personal experiences with those people that you made mention of in the letter?

Like did you meet any of the celebrities you wrote to, and then mention that you met them in the letters you wrote to them?
