Every fighter was in amazingly great spirits. It was a long day for them as well. They all arrived around 10 for the ribbon cutting ceremony, and the 2nd auto session wasn't until 2, so they were all there for quite some time.
I got there about an hour before the doors opened, 2 hours before the 1st signing session was set to begin. I was maybe 20th in line. Frankie Edgar and Chuck Liddell were the early session. After some ribbon cutting hoopla and a few MMA/Muy Thai demonstrations in the cage, they set up the table for the signing. For the most part, it went pretty smoothly. I had 2 8x10's for each of them to sign, and despite them claiming it was 1 signature per person, both fighters had no problem signing whatever people had. The line kinda log jammed going from one fighter to the other, as people stopped to talk and take pictures, so that's how I was able to get the extra Edgar Promo for my boy deeakay. I had already gotten my pics signed, but was waiting for people taking pics with Liddell, so I just asked Frankie for a signed promo, which he had no problem doing for me. But once you got to Liddell, I guess the "handlers" were trying to get people moving, so they quickly ushered me away from the table once I got my 2 pics signed by Chuck. So, sadly, no Chuck promo.
I was done with them around 11:45, and the next signing wasn't until 2, so I had some time to waste. They had a UFC stage out in the parking lot, along with some other promo booths (Muscle Pharm, Gamma Labs, things like that). At the UFC Stage, Forrest and BJ were doing a Q&A, so I watched that for a little bit, got a bite to eat, then went back on line. Got on line around 1, and then they announced that the signing was starting at 2, but there was also a "Special Guest" coming at 2:30. It ended up being JON BONES JONES!!! I wish I knew ahead of time, I would had some JBJ cards ready for him. All they had were copies of his UFC Promo, not even the real ones, just color copies of it on card stock.
By the time I got to the front of the line, the place was a mess. The people that were originally at the front, when it was just Forrest and BJ were trying to cut the line to get Bones, so it created a terrible crowd of people at the front of the line. Luckily, security was doing a pretty good job of keeping everyone in check. I finally got to the front, and the first guy was Forrest. Once again thing sort of log jammed while people were getting sigs and taking pics, so that's how I was able to get 2 pics and 2 cards signed by Forrest, as we were just standing next to each other, waiting for the line to move. Jones was in the middle and BJ was last. Once I got to BJ, they were really pushing people through. I was actually in the middle of a conversation with BJ (he commented on the pics I brought) when one of the gym employees more or less told me to keep moving. I wasn't even stopping others from getting to BJ, but whatever. It was a long day anyway, and I was more than happy to leave with 12 sigs from 5 current or former champs.
