Perhaps, but if one doesn't ask for an opinion, the trolls should keep their self proclaimed "expert" opinions to themselves.
The rudeness and arrogance from some of these folks should no longer be tolerated.
"Regret to inform you this is not a genuine Depp autograph, he's one of the hardest to get (for obvious reasons) and this is an autopenned signature. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news."
You're right, that was shockingly rude, and arrogant, and indeed an opinion which could only be formed by an expert feted by the masses, and written in a private media forum which I had no right to access or pass comment within.
Alternatively...
Now I'm off to find my friend Harry Potter, he's good at dealing with trolls who have escaped dungeons.
Things not to do, forget your autosaved password for a forum. Woops.

Maybe you should follow your own advice and keep your "expert" opinions on what people should or shouldn't post (in a public forum, no less) to yourself.
lol Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed today?
If Jackess didn't want opinions - perhaps he/she shouldn't post his autograph in a forum titled FEEDBACK.
It's not arrogance to inform someone politely, in a feedback forum mind you , that the autograph being submitted for feedback isn't authentic - especially when it's easy to confirm the authenticity of said autograph.
It's Depp people. He doesn't sign TTM. It's coming from Spanky's address. AGAIN. If you're new to this game, sorry this comes as a shock. Depp doesn't sign. Wait another 20 years when his star has lost its shine, maybe he'll sign for you then.
Favorite Film/TV Autographs: Robin Williams (Not Secretarial), every James Bond 007 actor from film and TV, every actor/stuntman (and actress) to ever play Jason in Friday the 13th film series, and every man to ever portray Superman on the TV, film, radio, stage, video games and in animation.

It is almost as amusing as the person who keeps posting abusive comments on my charity blog (16 of them today) every time a discussion comes up like this and certain people are involved in the discussion.

Admittedly your response in this instance and the majority of others have not been necessarily "rude" in the manner delivered. Unfortunately, it's still a rude gesture. True, it is a "feedback" forum as mentioned by someone else, but my interpretation of that is that it's the poster's feedback. If they solicit an opinion, then by all means, provide an opinion. The original poster did not solicit one, and likely knew the authenticity. Perhaps that was not your intention, but it still comes across that way. Perhaps it's just your way of "showing off", either way it's not right.
As indicated, it must be frustrating to new or younger collectors to have what they deem a success immediately ripped apart by a select few that enjoy doing so. It's disgusting.
autopen machines suck, I would rather have a pre-print than an autopen, but congrats on the picture it looks cool
I just sent my Depp auto off to JSA for authentication, I bought it on eBay for a pretty cheap price so I am highly doubting it's authenticity, however one thing I do have going for me is it does not look anything like the autopens, what do you all think (and yes, I am asking for honest opinions here, lol)
I bought it a couple of years ago and I am just now getting around to sending it to JSA

Precisely Diamond Dave. I also don't think stilluckyas13canbe was particularly rude in tone, but I do think it's not on to go immediately slam down someone's success (and I don't care what any of you say - it is a success - we've all established it's autopen - but you still have to go to the trouble of writing to the agency and sending a photo to at least get an imprint of this autograph).
Had Jackess actually asked "Is this authentic?", then stillluckyas13canbe could've willingly unleashed his showing off of how knowledgeable he is. And you're right Diamond Dave - it is exactly that. As it is, what was said was completely unnecessary, and I suggest perhaps keeping quiet stillluckyas13canbe unless you have something positive or constructive to say. As it is, you've knocked someone down and infuriated the rest of us. We've established that the Johnny Depp autographs are auto-penned, as you so boldly jumped in to say on my Johnny Depp photo too when I posted that. You were the first commenter. - http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?t=308545
Please just re-construct your future comments or don't comment at all...!

To put this a nice way I think what people are trying to point out is that if it is an autopen no matter how cool it looks it is pretty much "worthless" because there are so many out there and I am not saying that to be mean but what I am saying is that they are trying to warn people not to waste their postage and/or time. However, with that being said if you want to collect ap's and pre-prints then Studio Fan Mail is the way to go because you can just shoot them an e-mail with your information and they will fulfill your request. This will save you both the money for the stamp and the time it takes to send a hand written letter. I personally will not collect pre-prints because there are so many of them that it is not worth my time, if I really get the "itch" for an ap then I will go the studio fan mail way to save my valuable time and money. So it does help me when I read comments about celebs that only do pre-prints or AP's because it saves me from sending to them, it also saves me the risk of losing my item or getting it devalued by being signed by an ap. Because I usually send out my own items for signatures.
Seriously though, does anyone have any thoughts on my Depp auto? It looks nothing like the AP's. I should know within a month if JSA thinks it is real or not, lol.
If anyone wants a nice success from a legit celebrity including the first person from this particular post then write to Mark Wahlberg, his autographs are legit, I have already had one of my 3 verified by JSA. :-)
& as far as sports goes, the great Peyton Manning still signs TTM, I got one back from him earlier this year c\o the Broncos, if you do decide to send to him then only send one item at a time, if you send more than one he will send them all back unsigned, or at least he has done that with other people and with myself once when I sent him two cards at once.
