Re: MMA Collectors
I ran into him 4 or 5 times and every time he seemed to be completely overwhelmed by fans and stardom. Actually at one point the night before the fight, I got in the hotel elevator and he was getting in there with his wifey. I looked at him and said, "Finally some time for peace and quiet?" and he said, "You have no idea."
The hotel was not really packed full of fans, maybe 30-50 people max between the lobby, hallway and elevator.
Thomson comes out smiling after the fight, broken bones and happily signs for everyone.

That hotel is a autograph collector's dream.phyteguru wrote:I ran into him 4 or 5 times and every time he seemed to be completely overwhelmed by fans and stardom. Slow arriving & opening elevators and only 1 way in & out.
IMO Benson is not overwhelmed he just does not like to sign autographs & interacting with people and that's his "right" or whatever.
I love guys like Thomson.
Last year in Chicago after the weighins back at that hotel Cerrone came out of the elevator surprised by all of us but had the quote of the weekend.
A collector from Ohio apologized for having so many Topps cards for him to sign and Cowboy says,
"I don't give a F*, I'll sign a thousand!"
haha
Chael was the same. Super diligent to sign all you had and pose for photos & was sure to get everyone.
If guys would just give up the 5-10 minutes to sign everything for everyone they'd be pretty much set the rest of the day or night besides an autograph here & there for new people.
Rather than being crowded & asked every time they pass through the lobby & the doors/elevators.

Re: MMA Collectors
Love getting off work and having autographs waiting for me. I sent him a extra of the same card and said to give it to a family member that's proud of him. 10 days.

Stood next to Gian for like 5 minutes in Chicago. Could not for the life of me remember who he was, so I never asked for his autograph. The second he walked away, I was like DAMN - thats GIAN Villante! He was with Weidman.
Going to mail something out to Lee Murray today!
