Re: Doris Day success
I find it funny how everyone can come up with excuses (of course she is lying, show the proof, etc)...just because someone comes up with something against their "certainty" that they are secs.....let me think...believe the guy who met her, asked her, and she told him, plus he showed the autograph and the pic....or believe the people who have never met her, have never authenticated anything, or did anything other than collect like everyone else. Like I said of Facebook with that topic about Ms. Day...keep everything and let someone else figure out if it is real or not. Just because you didn't see them sign it, doesn't mean they didn't.

Re: Doris Day success
I understand that in every case if a celebrity says "Yeah, i sign my mail" There's going to be people that say "They could be lying" But sometimes we have to look at the situation and think outside the box. I just think nothing in this world anyone could provide would make the people who think her TTM's are fake change their mind because Her TTM signature being fake gets carried forward and everyone takes it as gospel, yet nobody remembers where it came from originally..What else do you need? If she says she signs...She's lying. If there was a picture of her holding her own signature....Then someone would say it's photoshopped.. People say you never know unless you were there In-person..Well he was there In-person and there's still an issue. Someone is always going to find an issue no matter what Info anyone provides. I personally would like to figure out if those IP examples matches the TTM ones. I think that was the point of the post.
Re: Doris Day success
The Facebook post that BS18 refers to as proof in the above post is a total joke.
First, there is a picture of Doris Day and a person, she is holding a dog, not autographing photos and there is absolutely no proof she signed anything for that person. The 3 "signed" photos that are shown in the second picture are TTM secretarial signed by 2 different secretary's. The facebook poster wants you to believe that on that day, she signed those 3 photos but anyone that has been collecting for more then a week can clearly see that the top photo was not signed by the person that signed the bottom. They are signed by two different people at different times and match her known secretarial signatures and are not close to her authentic signature

Re: Doris Day success
In my opinion if the guy who posted them really wanted to prove people wrong he would've taken a photo of Doris signing. A photo with her doesn't say much unless it's of her actually signing and you can see her sign. If this guy had the kahunas asking her if she signed her own fanmail you'd think he would have them to ask her for a picture while she signs..jrott wrote:The Facebook post that BS18 refers to as proof in the above post is a total joke.

Re: Doris Day success
Glad I'm not the only one who thought it seemed too good to be true.
There's no sign of signed photos in the photo op and it does seem like there were two different hands signing the several photos pictured in the IP v. ttm, both not Doris' based on the printed and original signatures that used to be sent ttm. When and where were the photos signed? Were they signed a few seconds earlier and put in the car, or in the hotel. Perhaps, as it doesn't seem like a "crowd" situation that was waiting to ambush Doris for autographs.
The facebook page doesn't belong to the guy who met her, though. Not that doesn't mean much but it does mean one can't take to the FB page and ask more questions for proof.
I'm not a "no pics, no proof" guy. For years I did have a scanner but it never worked so I couldn't share successes. I do have an awesome camera now, so can post pics. This guy got an AWESOME score in just meeting Doris Day. He has a photo op too! He knows it's rare. Very few people have that. A lot of people have secretarial Doris autographs and some people have authentic Doris autographs but at the end of the day, that guy has something very few people have, especially in Doris' latter years. It's a shame that the secretarial issue had to take over the photo op. He should have just posted it and have everyone just think "wow." Because that should trump the autographs any day.

Plus the fact that it's unrealistic and rather unbelievable that someone would be walking around with three photos of Doris Day in their possession and just happen to run into her on the street.
If I were visiting Beverly Hills I wouldn't be clutching three photos of Paris Hilton hoping there would be the chance I would bump into her on the street!!!! LOL

Re: Doris Day success
Where is everyone getting their facts from that they suddenly know what took place there?? I know it's your life mission to say their secs but give me a break...Unless like some people i actually did some research.
This is her hotel...The Doris Day Hotel...Look it up. There's website and everything. She used to be involved with activities they at the hotel and He most likely knew she was going to be there and brought photos for her to sign...i know....so unbelievable....
I guess when i get an IP encounter the first thing i think of is try and get my signed items in the shot...... Almost every IP topic on here has 2 pictures. The picture of them and the celebrity and the picture of the signed items they got after the fact. So if i don't have a photo of them signing my items, i made the whole thing up??
It's funny people can make fun and say she has someone to sign for her but yet doesn't show any pictures or evidence to back it up...just hear say for years.

Re: Doris Day success
It sounded like the guy knew she would be around the place at the particular time BUT again, the autograph portion of the story doesn't seem to add up. Many collectors know where a celebrity will be so it wouldn't be surprising if he had three photos on hand.
Only thing possible for a reason the signed pictures aren't in the photo op is that he could have had her sign them in the hotel that was mentioned, and left them there to take the photo or he left them in the car.
You'd think he'd want to take one with the photos, to def. prove the ttm aren't fake and since. And since it seems like Doris did spend some time with him, I'm sure she'd be OK with an extra, maybe even suggest to take one.
I still think the ttm are fake and I think the secretary is having fun adding the little squiggles and designs and the names of Doris' dogs.
I will say, too, she looks great in the photo.
