UK Stamp Cost

I'm sending and SAE to the UK, and I don't know hoe much the postage will cost. I'm sending a 6x8 envelope. Is it ok to just send some American dollars to pay for the postage?

If you look through the various topics of this forum you will find links to the UK Post Office website and many Q's & A's on methods for International return postage {up}

It will work with some, but not with others. Do some research in advance to see who has replied using $$ rather than stamps. Remember UK based celebrities may have no need for $$ and won't be bothered changing them, so you could get your items RTS'd or just never see them again.
Things not to do, forget your autosaved password for a forum. Woops.
