Hi guys,
I am a moderator and I know from on the mods forum this has been discussed alot. Lately we have had many spam bots posting sites for teen cams and porn etc., and we have been trying to stop it. But since we havent fully stopped it bots can send those same links to email address having it to close. I will bring this topic up on the Moderators forum as you wish though.

Hi guys
Firstly, thanks to Dallas for passing this on.
As has already been said, this matter has been discussed almost to death on the forum
It is not difficult to find an email address for a celebrity you want to contact, you simply go to their page and see if one has been posted. It will have been if a success has been reported on the Feedback Forum.
Over the past few months we have seen more and more email addresses taken out of action simply because people have seen somebody else get a success and want to get the same.
Unfortunately more often than not, the people who do this have no real interest in the celebrity, but just want to expand their collection.
By asking members find out email addresses by going to the celebrity's page on the site, then they have at least identified that they have a real desire to contact the celeb.
For example, if I listed email addresses for all of my successes on one page, then I KNOW many hundreds of members would email the whole list, just to be able to say they have got successes from 600 celebs for FREE
Truthfully, am I wrong????
In my working life I work a lot on tv and radio, and I know the minute somebody reports a success from me on this forum using my email address, I will have an influx of emails all asking for the same. When this happens I know most of the requests will have no idea who I am. I know exactly which countries my show is aired in
But still they send them!
I know a lot of collectors feel that celebrities have a duty to give them an autograph, but I don't agree. I think that if a collector can be bothered to write a decent letter than that is one thing. If they just want a freebee by email, that is totally another. . . . .
Just my thoughts, but as far as I am concerned, an email forum is not what true autograph collecting is about
Sorry, but my vote will ALWAYS be against one on this forum.

I respect Your decision, but still I think that it would be a great idea...
Not everyone, surely not me, would like to send e-mails to guys they never heard of, just to get a success... It would be terrific though, if I had chance to send an e-mail to my favourite celebrity, not wasting hours to look for the address...
Don't get me wrong - Fanmail.biz is AWESOME, and nothing is better than it... But still not all of the stars have e-mails written there, not all of the mails that are there are vaild, You know what I mean...
Maybe I'm just lazy, I can't deny it
But I thing, that this would be a + not a -.

Over 2000 successes!
And about a half for the charity too!

Actually, there are tons of people who just want celebrity email addresses so they can request as many autographs as possible. It is a shame, but it is also a fact, and the decision to not make an email forum will help prevent these people from emailing tons of celebrities they don't even know just to obtain voluminous autographs. And chances are that if you have spent hours searching for a celebrity's email address with no luck, they have taken measures to prevent fans from finding it.
What I am trying to say is that if a celebrity does not have an email address listed on their page, then they likely don't want to be contacted by email or have not published their email address online. Of course, you can always check a celebrity's website to see if an email address is listed.
I hope you understand what I'm saying and that you will appreciate the decision to not have an email forum
Not all celebrities want to have their email addresses circling around the internet. I bet you that most celebrities have an email address, but they keep it private (or only give it out to friends and family) because they do not want to be flooded by autograph requests and fanmail via the internet. Fanmail.biz does have a good amount of email addresses listed, but only on specific celebrity pages (aka the celebrities who have not kept their email addresses hidden or who may not mind getting email from fans).WeeMan wrote:But still not all of the stars have e-mails written there, not all of the mails that are there are vaild, You know what I mean...

Hi WeeMan
I was in no way trying to imply that you might partake in behaviour like that, and many of our members likewise would not dream of doing so.
However, we are an "open forum" with hundreds of thousands of regular visitors, and the danger is that not all those will be quite as respectful
It only takes a second to locate a celebrity if you use the Fanmail.biz toolbar
You only have to enter a search name and within a second you have all the info you need
You can download it here: http://www.fanmail.biz/toolbar/toolbar.php
You are right that not all celebs have email addresses listed, but as a responsible website we only tend to list email addresses from which there has been a confirmed success.
, and if all collectors were as trustworthy as you there would not be a problem, but to keep the forum as great as it is we need to have certain rules, and one is no mass email lists
We try to be responsible with our information, and we actually have a very low RTS rate per success compared with similar websites. In order to achieve this we have to keep our information accurate, and we could not do this if celebs kept changing their email addresses due to spamming.
Thanks for your posts, and I hope you can see it from our point of view

Yeah, but it is terribly lame... This is not the meaning of being a collector...Joey wrote:Actually, there are tons of people who just want celebrity email addresses so they can request as many autographs as possible.

Of course I do, I just thought it would be easier and quicker for me to find the celebrities I care about. But toolbar is awesome - it really helped me, kudos to You, brother

Re: E-Mail Address Feedback (ala Via Venue)
Thanks for being nice about it, as I have seen some posts where a new collector requests the same thing and get very mean replies. Thanks for explaining and not WRITING IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
