Extremely slow scrolling-speed

Unread post by F.A.D.E »

My computer has been suffering from extremely slow scrolling speed for a few weeks now. I have installed new Norton Anti Virus program which killed a lot of the spyware and other crap which was in my comuter. But I still can't scroll normally. It takes ages to scroll pages down. Does anyone have any idea what that could be? And how it can possibly be solved? The internet connection is very fast so it doesn't have anything to do with that.

Hi Fatima,

Which web browser are you using? Also, are you using a mouse-wheel are just clicking/dragging? Which OS are you using?

Hello Joel!

Thanks for your reply. I have Internet Explorer and I use an old fashioned clik and drag mouse. What is OS?

OS=Operating System

Example: Windows 98, Windows XP, Mac OSX. If it's Windows you can find it by going to Start >> Run and type in "winver" without the quotations marks.

Is it Internet Explorer 6?

From the IE help menu, select About Internet Explorer. I need the following information:

The following solution should work no matter what version you are using. If this does not work however, I will need the version information.

1. Go to Control Panel and select Internet Options.

2. In the screen that appears, select the Advanced tab.

3. Scroll down and uncheck the Use smooth scrolling option.

4. Click on OK and that's it!

If this does not help please tell me the version information for Internet Explorer and I'll see what I can do.

First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to help me :D That's very nice of you :D

Okay, so I checked and the smooth scrolling box is already checked. This is a screen cap of my internet thingy.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that I have recently been getting notifications from Microsoft saying my Windows is not genuine? I have ordered a new Windows which I should be getting tomorrow. Would that make the difference?

Having the smooth scroll box checked is the default for Windows XP. What I posted earlier is to uncheck the box.
