Good news.

That's nice of them to do that for you, but now you know in future to acquire stamps from the country you need the item returned from before sending.
Yea I know and to not trust the words of the Post Office Workers.

I also told her that I'll refund her postage via paypal once I receive the cards, if she would like me to.

To get a letter from UK to USA you need UK postage.
US international stamps are for sending letters from the US worldwide. So no good for sending from UK to US.
The UK post office (like any other) will not accept foreign postage as payment to send a letter.
Perhaps the person who got your items signed put on some UK postage.
That's not cool, I asked my post office if that would work and they said it would. So next time should I use one of the coupon things and put it in the envelope.

Do you think they would return it to sender.

I've used the international stamps with Canada and they accept them for the return.
I live in Canada and no our post office does not accept u.s. postage stamps for sending from Canada to the u.s. If that did work for you you just got lucky and got a postal worker that let it slide or maybe it had no return address or your address in both spots so they let it slide but for others reading this letters mailed from Canada need Canadian stamps obviously that is what is paying for the service. As for the UK thing I have both sent and received many things to and from the Uk over the years which were all just lettermail size and nothing ever took moe than a week to 10 days so if she put the proper postage on you should have got it by now. but remember in the future you always need stamps from the country it is being sent from on the envelope.

I sold a Shirt once, packaged in a black bag since it's not a breakable item, with sufficient air taken out previous to handing it to the woman at the post office, she then proceeded to stamp on it to get extra air out, so it would fit through their measuring device, which was completely unnecessary.

In future, such items would be sent in a box, even if it does cost more. The moral of the story is, trust your own judgement, I should have used a box or research first in your case about stamps.

The mailing office has never failed to surprise me of the lack of care they show for the parcels they process.

I didn't use us stamps it was the international stamps that I used to get a success from Canada.

I'm really glad too that your envelope has arrived safely.

Airmail is a puzzling thing at times. I have three small jiffy bags coming from the US, sent on different days, and only the most recently sent has turned up yet lol!
NO LONGER ACTIVE
