I seen that a member was cursing so I gave a negative rep point to him saying to Watch his language. I recieved a PM minutes after I gave it to him. It said this:
Why are You ruining my reputation? Sorry, but I'm not cursing, or something like that... I'm nice to all of the users, I'm trying to help them, I'm always polite...
I don't know if HELL YEAH is such a bad phrase... Is it so offending? Because really, I don't see a reason of me getting - 1 rep points...
I'm very disappointed, because I'm trying to do my best, I've even bought a digital camera to show all of my collection, and give some advice to rookies, and I see I don't get the respect that everyone here deserves...
Don't get me wrong, it is not an attack on You, or something, but I find Your decision very harsh.
Best wishes,
WeeMan.
I responded:
I have no comment. Just trying my best to help the forum and since I am not a moderator of the section posted I could not edit your post so I did what I could a negative rep point. When someone finds you doing something helpful your rep points will go back up. I was not trying to "ruin" your reputation!
All the best,
Dallas
I will tell you if he responds again. Did I handle this well>

Hey Dallas,
I don't know what it is but ever since WeeMan joined I have detected a bit of "rob234111" or "cougars" in him.
I think that you handled it great. A
reputation point is not the end of the world.
I would probably just ignore the PM and know that what you have done has helped the forum to become a better place.

Hi Dallas
Unfortunately this one is all down to a perception of language
I was watching that thread, and I must admit I wouldn't personally have given a negative rep point for bad language for that post.
However like I said it is all down to country-to-country perception
In the UK "hell no" is not a bad thing to say. (Possibly your parents might pick you up on it, but on the whole it is not a bad phrase
)
Being an international forum we will always have these differences in language.
With this being said, I totally support you in what you said to WeeMan on this occasion, but being Polish, his use of language will be different to yours
What I am going to do is to PM him to back up what you said, but I will also give him a + rep point at an appropriate time to set him back to 0 so there is no bad feeling
All I would day to moderators is to try to take into account whether the person posting is using English as their first language. If they make mistakes please take this into account
Cheers!
Ian
