Stamp and Other Questions

Unread post by EvaBeave »

Hello, I'm new here and had a couple questions:
I'm sorry if the questions are repetitive but I searched many pages on the forum and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

If I were to send a SASE, would it be okay for me to fold it into my regular sized envelope for them to unfold?

Approximately how many Forever stamps should I add to my SASE? (I'm in the US)

On a scale of 1 to 10, how necessary is it to send a SASE? I used to write to my fave celebs all the time back in the early 2000's and never did and still got a few responses; have the times changed?

Thank you!

Although I don't like to other people here do it all the time. But your picture may get folded on the return trip.

It usually costs roughly $1.40 - $1.60 depending on the final weight of the envelope so you need to send enough to cover that. Four Forever stamps will probably cover it. I use a $1.00 stamp and two Forever stamps. That usually covers the cost of the envelope, two pictures, SASE, and a light sheet of cardboard.

In my opinion it's in the 11 to 12 range.

I always fold my return envelope in the manner described, and the picture never comes back folded, it's too big in the envelope for that to happen.

Check out www.usps.com which has price guides, stamp info and calculators {up}

IMO it's essential and polite to send a SASE. You are already asking for a free autograph, asking them to pay for return postage is rude!

Best bet is to send your SASE in a slightly larger envelope, which will also house a cardboard backer and lessen the chance of a photo being bent (e.g., 8x10 photo with a 9x12 SASE goes in an 11X14 envelope to the person.)
