Kristin Chenoweth In-Person Success!

Unread post by darth scranton »

Kristin Chenoweth, American singer and actress

This is a few weeks late, since I got busy with the end of school and the holiday season! But it was an exciting evening meeting one of the most inspirational people to me.

I have seen Kristin Chenoweth in concert before, and she is an amazing performer. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to hear her sing again....and get to meet her!

I purchased a VIP ticket to see Ms. Chenoweth in Nashville, TN in early December. I got to the concert hall and they gave me a special lanyard and escorted me to my seat on the 2nd row. The concert was amazing, she is a phenomenal singer and a very entertaining person. The concert was a mix of her usual repertoire and a few Christmas songs as well (extra cool because the first complete album of hers I had was her Christmas cd).

Once the concert ended, the 25 or so of us who had bought the VIP passes stayed in our seats and waited to be collected. During the wait, her pianist and conductor, Mary Mitchell Campbell, came back out and I went up and spoke to her and got a photo (as a conductor, this was very exciting for me). We waited so long I got nervous we weren't going to get to meet her. But finally, the time came and we were escorted upstairs!

We were very brusquely told that we were NOT to hug or touch Ms. Chenoweth. Each person was getting a very limited amount of time, but you could see and hear that she was making the most of her time.

I get very anxious meeting famous people, so I don't entirely remember the experience. I know that I told her I was a music teacher, and she was super appreciative of what I do for the music profession. I told her we had a concert the next day and that she'd inspired me to perform even better. She asked what we'd be playing and I told her Sleigh Ride (which was our secret encore!). Her assistant took our picture (she put her arm around me, even though we were told not to touch her), and then I pushed my luck and asked if she could say hi to my students in a video...her manager was pretty rough saying no, while she was very kind when she said she could not. But, she did personalize the previously autographed photo that I was being given (I don't even remember telling her my name, but she knew it!), and continued to thank me for what I do for music.

So, all in all, this was a fantastic opportunity to meet one of my all time favorite and most inspirational musicians! The VIP experience is expensive, but with Kristin Chenoweth, it's totally worth it!
