AP, PP or Authentic? =/

Unread post by Nammzi »

Hey

I was just wondreing, is there any obvious way to tell if an Autograph is AP or PP? I mean, if it is AP, does it mark the photo in any way? Just wondering :)

PP's or Preprints will be exactly the same. So one good way to see if your autograph is a PP is to search around and see if your autograph matches another one exactly. AP's or Autopens on the otherhand are templates given to a machine to sign. Autopens are sometimes described as "shaky" due to the machine's movement in signing. In addition, autopens will have a uniform boldness, etc. Autopens will vary slightly and positioning will also vary. To see if an autograph is an autopen a good plan is to look at O's, D's, P's, and B's to see if any of the letters are "shaky". I hope this answers your question!

I do disagree, I have seen several different preprints that come from some celebs. If you want to waist your time and try and compare that's fine I guess. I hope you don't have the 1st new preprint sent out it may take awhile before you find another. LOL. Basically hold it up to a good light and you will be able to see if the autograph is actually on top of the photo or actually in the photo It may take some time and different angles but you can tell. As far as autopens people think the machine makes them shakey, actually an autopen signs with short straight lines invisible to the naked eye like this ---- My self I recommend a jewelers loop or if you have a microscope either will work AND the absolute best way is to avoid the writing to celebs, etc. who send out preprints ,autopens and most of all secretarials. Hope this helps...........

I am aware of that. Perhaps I should have been more clear. For example if you recieve a photo from a celebrity and you believ that it may be an autopen, you could search around and find that photo and check signature placement and similarity.

Another great way to detect an autopen vs. a preprint is to turn the photograph over, and see if the impression comes through on the reverse side.

As whosurdaddy mentioned, you can usually detect a preprint by examining the photo under a lamp or spotlight. If you tilt it away from you you will either see that the glossy surface of the photograph continues across the signature, which means it is a preprint. If however the autograph appears matt or basically "different" to the glossy background of the photo, then it is not a preprint.

Hope this helps!
