hey! has anyone entered the amateur photo contest on http://www.picture.com ??
well about a month ago i entered my pic and today in the post i received a letter from them telling me that the judges have selected my picture to go through to the semi-finals and they were proper praising my work and also that with my permission my picture will be published in their annual book 'endless journeys'. well i was so excited about this but my mum seems to think that they just send the same thing to everyone to make money. has anyone else received a letter like this from them?
i really don't know what to think now she's said that. i wouldn't of thought they would have sent the same letter to everyone cos i've been on the site, there are hundreds of thousands of pics entered so they can't possibly publish EVERY pic could they? so i think they really did select mine, cos as they said in the letter ''of the thousands of photographs we see each year, only a fraction can be published''. so what do you all think?
i could take a pic of the letter if anyone wants to read it.

Hello Hayley!
I am not familiar with this site in particular but I used to know a website called Poetry.com. I sent in a few poems and every time I got a letter saying my poems would be printed - so did my sister! *lol* And some of them were really crap *lol* But the basic idea seems to be the same. They will publish a book and every one will buy it cos they want to see their poem in print.
There is a chance that picture.com is just like that.

so you think everyone got that letter? but thats my point, they can't possibly print all the thousands of pics that are entered. the book is this international annual thing, its like a really popular book for people who are into photography and art and you can purchase it from all book stores. so its not just a lil thing where everyone who requests a book will all get a different one but with their pic featured so the site can make money, cos if its in book stores then they're gonna be all the same aren't they. so do you think its worth purchasing one?FatimaDenmark wrote:Hello Hayley!

That has happened to me too with the poetry.com Me and my fiancee both sent poems in for the contest and they both were printed in the book. We had to buy the book to see which we did. Then for the next few months they sent letters saying how we got invited to awards for the poems in the book but to go we had to send x amount of dollars. I think its a big scam to get money but hey Im in a book. LOL
heres the link that list all the winners and theres a whole LOT of them, far too many to count
