Why does a letter have to pass through a Celebrities agent?

What if i didnt write c/o on the envelope, would that be ok? and would it still have to pass through the agent?

Does it really have to pass through an agent before it gets to a certain celebrity addressed to?

thanks all!! :D

There are some celebrities which may have direct mailing addresses, in which case you won't need to send via an agent. For those where you write via an agent, they act as an intermediary between the fans and the celebrity so the celebrity doesn't get swamped by fan mail all in one go.

Really, you should write c/o when addressing the letter to the celebrity. I believe there have been instances in the past where c/o was not next to the agent's name, and it actually came back RTS. You should write it just to be on the safe side.

Normally, yes. The agent will most likely collect any mail received for the celebrity and put them in a box or something like that. They will then pass this all on to the celebrity, or help them go through it. For those that have direct mailing addresses this won't be the case.
