How to write and send?

Unread post by x Pirates-Fan x »

How much do IRC's cost in the Uk? Because I'm just wondering if they cost a lot do I have to put one in every letter I send abroad as I don't exactly get a lot of pocket money! And if I don't use an IRC am I less likely to get a reply?
I need to have answers,

x Pirates-Fan x

Ps. Does anyone else have any tips for what to write and how to send it?

Hey Pirates_Fan

IRC's in the UK cost £0.95p. The price recently went up making it a lot more expensive. I would only send an IRC if you are sending a photo as that is what I do. I understand the cost of IRC's aswell so I rarely use them. Sending them does increase a chance of reply but I have had loads of successes and only sent an SAE

Hi x Pirates-Fan x :D

Sending an IRC is a matter of politeness to the celebrity. They have no obligation to send something to you if you don't include some sort of return postage, considering they may receive hundreds or thousands of requests without SASE's or IRC's. It may not sound a lot if they paid postage for 1 or 2 requests, but when it gets into the hundreds or thousands this really adds up.

Sending an IRC with your request greatly increases the chance of receiving a reply - because you're paying the cost of return postage. Some celebrities may only reply if you've paid postage.

It will probably be cheaper if you could get your hand on stamps from the country you're sending your request to (e.g. US stamps can be purchased from the USPS website).

I'm with you ;)

Some people send several IRCs when they send their own photos, but why don't you at least include one IRC per letter?

Like nowandagain said, it's a matter of politeness :D

It cost me less to buy stamps from the USPS website- only a few pound, but it was still cheaper!

I'll probs save up to buy IRC's to send internationally(of course) and just send a SASE to any in the uk. Do you think that would be ok?

Yes, that's how you do it {up} IRC's are only for international requests. SASE's for local requests (that is, unless you can get stamps for whichever international country you're writing to).
