Stephan is right though, in Coronation Street the houses are real brick built, but the interior scenes are shot in the Granada studios in Manchester. EastEnders exterior set is mainly only fronts of houses and they are built in the BBC lot (carpark

BTW, the exterior background above is probably used as a "window view" rather than an actual set. That is it can be moved around so that it provides the "view" if you look out of any of the windows in the acutal set. They will probably have dozens of alternative window views.
They actually use them a lot on comedies and indoor set-based shows

PS I have attached a couple of aerial pictures of the Coronation Street set below. It is amazing how small it is though, and if you look at the houses surrounding the set you can see they are only "fronts"!!
