Hi Dallas
You have to remember that when people arrive for talk show interviews, they may only be there for a very short period of time - sometimes even less than 1 hour.
Given that all staff members working on the show will be focused primarily on ensuring the show runs smoothly, it's highly unlikely that someone will remember to pass mail onto a particular celebrity in this short period of time.

I would give it a try. I talked to the people at The View when I went to see an episode and they told me to send things early only because they have to check every single item to make sure nothing bad is in it. They told me it would get passed onto the manager or whatever, but that it would be up to them. I know its not the same show, but I am guessing they both do some of the same things. Good luck if you do send anything. Its always worth a try.
I wrote to Megan when I heard she started working on the set and still haven't gotten anything back. Who knows though some people wait a year to get something back. I know I have in the past and all I got were preprints.

Let's say somebody wanted Oprah Winfrey's autograph. She does books signings, so you might look on her website to see where she's making public appearances, stand in line, and ask her. If you're too shy, you could write in and request one, but she gets lots of requests and definitely has an autopen. You would be amazed at how many celebrities actually read their fan mail, so if you write an interesting letter, you might very well get an interesting response back. I am sure Oprah Winfrey has written many interesting letters, so you have nothing to lose except postage.
