Good letter? Collection for Raffle event

Dear prospective sponsor,
My name is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I'm a XXXX year old XXXXXXXXXXXX student that currently resides in XXXXXXX. For the past 7 years, I have been helping out with an American Cancer Society event called The Relay For Life. The goal of this event is to raise money to find a cure for cancer. It is an Overnight event that is taking place on June 9th and 10th. The Teams are to arrive at 10 AM on the 9th of June. The event opens to the public at Noon that day. For the duration of the day, the people that are camped out in the Field of North Rockland High School, will be raising money with small on site events. At 9:00 PM that night the event closes, and all people that are not part of a registered team must leave. For the rest of the night, people will be competing in events like the Lip sync contest, and will be walking on the track. The point is to keep someone on the track all night. The morning at 6:00 people will attend the final walk and the teams will be receiving rewards for Team theme, most money raised, and various other mini competitions. There is a Survivor walk, and a caregiver walk. All of them very emotional.

We are having auctions, and we are selling various other merchandise that is being donated to my team by bands, and clothing lines. I was really hoping that you would be able to help my team by donating an autograph, or something else to help this cause. It would mean so much to me and the rest of 'Relay with the Stars'. If you chose not to help us out, or Donate, i would totally understand. I would also understand if you did not trust, or believe me. I am just hoping that you will help us out. All I am asking of you is that you would take five minuets out of your time to send us some kind of merchandise for us to raffle off at our event in June. I realize that it is very early in the year, but waiting is never easy to do.

> In every way, we are affected by cancer. My best friend lost her Grandfather to lung cancer, and two of my friends lost their mothers to Bone and Breast Cancer. My father has had more then 5 cancerous cells from his body. Both of my grandmothers had Breast Cancer. My Aunt was recently diagnosed with severe Breast Cancer, and ovarian cancer. My mothers boss had and fought cancer. You may not see it, but this disease is affecting everyone. I am hoping that you would be willing to help us out. What does everyone think? I plan on sending this letter out to a nice amount of addresses in the database. We did soemthing similar to that last year, only it was shorter, more rushed, and less professional. we made $300 from donations from small bands only this year we are broadening out horizions. So thats the letter this year.
