HELP! Some troubles.

I'm sending a fanmail from overseas to an actor of Narnia in UK. I have a few questions.
1. If I want his autograph, should I send him his photo for him to sign? Or he will send me a signed photo himself?
2. He will go to filming outside UK after New Year. But my letter shall arrive before Christmas day. Will he receive my letter before 2007? If not, he'll only receive it after say half a year. I'm afraid at that time, the letter will be lost. Also, the Christmas card will be meaningless. What should I do?
3. From receiving my letter to replying, around how long does it take? 'cause if it takes too long, it's still unlikely for me to get a reply since he's going to leave England in January 2007!
4. It is more troublesome if I include IRC instead of stamps. Will the actor not reply me due to this reason? Has anyone get a reply by sending fanmail overseas with IRC included?

It would depend on who you are sending to. More than likely the actor will have some photos to send but if you really want to play it safe, I would send a photo or index card.

More than likely your letter will be answered after filming but if the actor isn't really busy and has his fanmail at hand, then you could receive a reply before he flys out to film overseas.

It can take from a few weeks to a few months. The normal reply time span is 2-3 months but depending on who you write to, this could take less or more time.

There have been many replies overseas without using IRC's, but an IRC is just a polite gesture that you will pay for postage. I tend to not send IRC's that much anymore and 80% of the time, they pay for postage, but I include in my letter the reason for not including a coupon for return postage. Whatever you feel is best, I would do. Don't go out of your way to do so though as more than likely, they will be kind enough to pay postage.

Thanks for your answer. I'm actually sending to William Moseley (Peter in Narnia). But could you tell me what's an index card? And what should be the size of the photo? Besides, I included some hand-made presents which is about Christmas and New Year. So, if he receives it half a year later, it'll be odd, won't it? I've already spent a lot of time to make it...
Also, will it be appropriate if I send him my own photo?

No not at all will it be inappropirate if you want to send a photo of your own. The size of photo you want to send basically depends on how much you want to spend for it to get to the UK. For example if you sent a 4 by 6 photo (small), the postage won't be much. If you sent an 8 by 10 (medium/large), the postage cost will be a bit more

An index card is a small blank white card around 3 by 5 (around the size of the number keys towards the very right of a standard keyboard). Sending one will cost hardly anything and they are quite simple to send

Normally, celebrities will have their own photos to send out, so sending a photo or other item to sign is optional.

Send out your request as normal. It's the thought that counts, and William won't think less when he sees a Christmas card - whether it be this year or half way into next year .

The time it takes for a celebrity to respond depends on how busy they are. You may receive a response within days, weeks, months or even years! Normally the waiting time is usually around 3 months.

Once you send out a request, all you have to do is wait as the situation is now out of your hands (I know this can be hard).

It's better if you send a SASE (stamped, self addressed envelope) as it increases your chance of receiving a reply (provided you can get UK stamps). If not, it's perfectly fine to send an IRC with a SAE instead, and is better than sending no return postage at all.

I always try to include return postage with my requests, as it can increase your chance of receiving a reply as you pay for postage. IRC's are a little more troublesome than sending a SASE, but if the celebrity doesn't wish to use it he/she can send it back to you
