how do you know if an autograph is authentic, or fake?

If you get a pre-print the autograph is part of the picture, so if you hold it at an angle to the light, if its authentic you will see the light reflects differently from the rest of the picture.
An autopen is where a machine puts the autograph on the picture, so it is the same pressure thoughout the autograph.
If its a stamp the edge of the autograph sometimes looks funny, like its been outlined if that makes sense.
Some personalised autographs are not authentic because you can get pre-prints with a seceterial inscription. so you can't always tell that way.
some celebrities never personalise so that doesn't mean its not real either.
You can always see what others have got to see if the autograph is exactly the same, and you can compare the autograph with in-person successes.
There no way to be a 100% sure when it comes down to it, unless you have watched the person sign.
