I agree, they either choose or the company that produces the tv show eg. Friends, Buffy etc. Or it could be the actor/acteress's manager/agent.

x Pirates-Fan x has a good point. But, unfortuntely, we don't know why certain celebrities sign up for Studio Fan Mail. I believe that some celebrities do it on their own free will. But as x Pirates-Fan x posted, their agents/managers might make then sign up or even the production company of a TV show might make them sign up.
According to Star Collector (another great autograph site), SFM is used by celebrities who either can't handle the amount of mail they receive or simply doesn't want to be bothered by it. They have an SFM page at http://www.star-collector.net/studio.htmdgangel wrote:I wonder what entices them to sign up with studiofanmail though, because I mean if I were a celebrity I would want to read letters from my fans.
Sarah Michelle Gellar falls into the category of a celebrity who doesn't want to be bothered by fanmail because everyone who sends mail to her gets an SFM whether it's TTM, Via Venue, et al.
Yeah, well whatever works for them I guess. I know some celebs who are with sfm, sign autographs now. Like Henry Winkler, hes a really good signer.EugeneE wrote:According to Star Collector (another great autograph site), SFM is used by celebrities who either can't handle the amount of mail they receive or simply doesn't want to be bothered by it. Others with sfm, dont appear to be too famous so I dont imagine them getting that much mail, but who knows
You make a very good point. Some celebrities who use SFM are actually starting to sign autographs TTM. I have seen some feedback from fanmail.biz users who have gotten autograph requests TTM to SFM clients such as Bob Saget & Tim Allen & have gotten back autographs which aren't SFM's.dgangel wrote:Yeah, well whatever works for them I guess. It's great that certain SFM clients are doing this. Because why not answer your fanmail? Many of the people who write to celebrities TTM are fans who want an autograph to keep, they don't do it to sell the autograph.
Thanks, I have gotten a success from Bob Saget, I think Dave Coulier might have talked him into signing autographs for his fans. There was an interview on Daves site about how much his fans appreciate him signing autographs and he was telling Bob he should sign for his fans as well.EugeneE wrote:You make a very good point.
