One word of advice is to never mention that you are an autograph collector in your letters. Certain celebrities despise autograph collectors & they might not send you an autograph if you mention that you are an autograph collector.

Yes, I made that mistake once. It was a letter to Steven Gerrard, I never got a responce so a year later I sent again and didn't include it and I got a responce.

While many of us on fanmail.biz collect autographs from celebrities who we are fans of, there are autograph collectors who collect autographs only to sell the autographs on EBAY, et al.

Great advise! I bet it makes them feel like we just want their autograph to expand our collection.

i think hand written

the celeb is more prone to taking the time to write you a hand written letter. it may seem like you have just copied other letters to celebrities. i aways write hand written letters and i get quite a few hand written letters from celebs back.

My hand writing is absolutly rubbish so i type my letters.

I used to hand write all my letters but it hurt my hand so much (i used to write 6 letters at a time) i just started typing if it was someone that i really wanted i hand write my letter but i always use a pretty decorated envelope so they notice it (Luminescent Yellow with Pink flowers)
