What is a SASE?

I was reading some things for people who sent letters into Johnny Depp and it sounds like he only replied to the ones that sent SASE?
What is it?

SASE= Self Addressed Stamped Envelope

In other words you have to include a stamped envelope with your address on it so you can get your autograph back.

Exactly, Its an envelope with the sender's name and address on it, with affixed paid postage..
