The old spam was no "big problem" in my eyes. Sure, the GD section had to take quite a lot of it, but it was removed in a few minutes.

But now we have this new problem: Several spam bots who post more than once and are still around in the forums! This must be something new, and I'm quite sure they will not disappear. In fact, I think fanmail will be more and more spammed as time goes. :|

They are everywhere, they spam in every section, and their posts look more normal than usual.

Steffi: I edited your first post, changed the topic title. Hope it's okay!

Yeah, I agree with all of you - we should just delete what we can until it blows over.

PS: Johan, changing the title - all good! :D {up}

Hi everyone :)

All these "users" have been removed from the database. I delete about 10 of them twice a day :|

I've just changed the message board settings. You can now ban users. Ban them. They won't be able to post again and their posts will be deleted.

To ban an user, click on the red button on the right-bottom of each his/her post. Please do not abuse of your new powers :mrgreen:

The next version of the message board will be ready soon and it will probably stop them.

Thanks for the grear job you are doing on the forums {up}

That's a good thing admin :)

My suggestion is: Do only ban members you know are spam bots, and do not ban real members who are behaving incorrectly. Those should be reported as usual and admin or Ian will have a look!

So, let's not use this new function if it isn't a spam bot, to avoid easy mistakes.

I just noticed that red button at the bottom. Excellent idea admin! I hope this will curb the spam on the boards {up}

Exactly! I would also recommend not clicking the warning button unless it was ultimately necessary either! Members may get upset and create more trouble :?. Johan, you are correct in saying that these members/posts should be reported and discussed rather than give a straight out ban/warning.

If we use the ban button, will that just shut off their powers to post and nothing else or will it shut off their power to post, delete their profile/username and delete all their posts?

Great idea admin {up}

Hi again everyone :)

I've just installed a new filter. The spam should now be reduced by 80% :| Please let me know if the situation is getting better.

They will be banned and their posts will be automatically deleted by fanmail-bot. (After a few hours)
