Hi guys {up}

As nowandagain mentioned earlier in this thread, banning a member (bot or not :wink: ) does not remove their previous posts. The only way to properly deal with bot spamming is to remove the spam posts, and delete the "member" from the system.

Member deletion can only be done by an Admin (currently admin or me), so it is very important that all spam postings are listed on the "Found A SPAM message - Post it here" forum: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?t=40765 That way we can delete the member and the posts. However I agree, in the interim period it is useful to be able to ban "spam-posting" members to prevent further spamming before the account can be removed.

Unfortunately though, recently some "legit" members have banned very quickly by moderators who have obviously wrongly suspected them to be spammers. I think we need to look into how the whole ban process works, and who can have authority to do it :wink:

Cheers,
Ian :mrgreen:
