If you don't include one, it greatly reduces the chance of getting a reply.

Most people probably get loads of fanmail, so they can't afford to pay for postage on ones that don't include a SASE or an IRC.

There are some exceptions, like tv shows in the UK, but its best to find out first, then you have the best chance of getting something back.

SASE

Hi Guys!

I thought I would just share the results of a little test I did a while back. On the whole I always include return postage which I believe is a major reason for my recent 300+ successes.

As a test I mailed out 50 request letters with SASE's and 50 letters (to different recipients) with a return envelope but no postage.

Out of the 50 with postage I received 35 within 2 months, whereas I only got back 7 of the ones without return postage!!!

(4 of these 7 were mailed back to me with no postage on and I had to subsequently pay the postage cost and the £1 UK fine to the post office).

All in all, I think I can say that it is cheaper, easier and quicker in the long-run to included an SASE if you can!

Hope this is useful to someone!!!!

Some Celebrities like Jackie Chan will pay for postage via the Hong Kong address since IRC's don't work in communist countries. I had a success from John Travolta as well by sending him a letter only.

I would especially include an SASE or IRC when you are sending things to a different country because the postage costs more.
