I agree with just about everything you said Rpbluesman. I just didnt like Sanjaya.

I didnt like the results last night either, Melinda was the best this year! She deserved to win, but I wanted her to come in 2nd because of the whole contract thing. Blake cant sing, I guess thats why he beatboxed so much, he used it to his advantage. Oh well, as much as I like Jordin, i'm not watching the finale.

Although I would like to see what Simon has to say about Blakes performances next week, because I know Simon does not want him in the finale !

I tried to vote for Melinda on Tuesday but I kept getting a busy signal. I didn't get through once, even though I called her numbers probably 20 or 30 times.

So although the true idol, Melinda, is now out of the competition, I'm pouring every vote I have into Jordin Sparks. She's great, but nowhere near as amazing as Melinda (remember "My Funny Valentine"?) Blake shouldn't win, although I still think he's good.

I think what happened is that the people who were voting for Chris Richardson shifted over to Blake after the two of them said that they were best friends, and Chris said that he would go home for Blake. I think a lot of Blake fans and a lot of Chris fans took notice, and now Blake has both his voters and Chris' voters.

I'm guessing that Simon is going to be extra-hard on Blake next week, because he clearly didn't want Blake there in the first place. The judges did an excellent job of NOT saying what they wanted to say after Melinda was eliminated, Simon especially.

Melinda was in a completely different league from everyone else on the show this year. Even the other favorites, Jordin and LaKisha, couldn't come close to her. Just the fact that she was eliminated shows that America cares more about image and less about vocal quality.

Plus, Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck from "The View" promote the heck out of Blake every Thursday on their show. Which is unfair simply because there are other contestants worth promoting as well.

Melinda Doolittle joins a long line of "Idol" finalists who didn't win, but who will or have won out when it comes to talent, fame, and record sales. Just look at Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, Elliott Yamin, and Kellie Pickler. They've all out-sold and out-striped the people who won in their respective seasons, as they should. Melinda Doolittle will soon follow suit.

I don't think it's that big of a deal who wins American Idol because the top 4 people usually get record deals anyway. The AI record label stinks anyway so root for your favorite person not to win!

Well here's my take on Idol

As for my favorite....I like Jordin and Melinda the best, and Phil was really good and should have made it farther than Blake & Chris in my opinion

Here's how I think the final three should have been.

Phil Stacey, Jordin Sparks, Melinda Doolittle. Then Phil probably would have been voted off, and the finale should have been Melinda and Jordin. That;s how the Finale was meant to be..Melinda & Jordin. The two best SINGERS of the competition

I agree that Phil had a better voice than both Blake and Chris Richardson. However, in the early rounds of the competition when fanbases are established, Phil had some rocky performances (he always seemed to start his songs off-pitch and then hit his stride midway through) that may have cost him some fans. Meanwhile, Chris and Blake were gaining steady followings by delivering solid performances during the crucial first 3 weeks of the competition.

I think everyone saw that Phil had awesome potential, but he didn't finally deliver a "wow" performance until his Top 7 performance of "Where The Blacktop Ends". By that time, fanbases have already been established and people know who they're voting for. So although Phil had the best male voice this year, Chris and Blake made it further because they delivered strong performances in the early stages of the competition during a time when most of the other guys (Brandon, Sanjaya, Chris S., Sundance, Jared, Nick, Paul, Rudy, and even Phil to some extent) struggled.
